COFFEE: COMEXIM ESTIMATES BRAZILIAN COFFEE CROP AT AT LEAST 55.1 MLN BAGS

The Brazilian coffee crop of 2010/11, which is in early
harvest stage, should reach a total of at least 55.1 million bags. The
assessment was made by Comexim (Comissária Exportadora e Importadora), from
information released on Thursday, with Comexim expecting a record crop in
Brazil.
On January 25, Comexim pointed to a production at 53.1 million bags, with
39.50 million bags of arabica and 13.6 million bags of conillon. Comexim
believes the Conillon crop must confirm this projection of 13.6 million bags.
However, the production of arabica that was indicated at 39.5 million will
likely be increased by at least 2 million bags. So the Brazilian output that had
been indicated at 53.1 million bags would reach 55.1 million bags.
On Thursday, the National Supply Company (Conab) released its second
estimate for the Brazilian crop in 2010, pointing to a production of 47 million
bags, representing a growth of 19.2% over the 2009 crop (39.5 million bags).
